About the event
Be nourished, cherished, and in community
Join the Flatirons Farmers Coalition for our annual HoeDown celebration!
This season has been brutal - persistent drought, irrigation limits, crushing heat waves, and we are changing things up at this event to give our community a much needed space to be nourished, cherished, and in community.
This year, we're doing something new and feeding you! We'll take a well-deserved moment to enjoy a lowbrow, amazing quality farm-to-paper-plate meal included with admission, so our farmers feel held and and our broader community can enjoy the literal fruits of their hard labor.
Many of the other aspects that you know and love about the HoeDown are here to stay: music, dancing, and salt of the earth people. We are also bringing back the costume contest and the weird vegetable contest. Please note, we will either significantly reduce or eliminate the silent auction. Other opportunities to support FFC will be available, but the main purpose of this event is to celebrate our farmers and ranchers!
In summary, you can expect:
Sliding scale admission, making attendance accessible while allowing others to provide meaningful financial support for our work
A homecooked meal sourced from 99% local ingredients, included with admission
2 free drink tickets also included in each adult admission, plus unlimited non alcoholic drinks
Live music and dancing
A costume contest and a weird veggie competition, both with dumb prizes
An About FFC booth highlighting our programs
Fire pits
About Sliding Scale Tickets
Our pricing structure has changed! See below for more info.
Because you're going to get more out of your admission than in prior years, we are increasing our suggested ticket price to account for the added cost on our end, but the sliding scale model remains to ensure that this event remains accessible to all!
Sliding Scale:
Minimum: $20 Please contact us if this is prohibitive! This event intends to celebrate, nourish, and support our ag community; we want all to be able to join us. FREE ENTRY FOR VOLUNTEERS
Encouraged: $60 This covers the value of two alcoholic drinks, unlimited nonalcoholic drinks, a locally sourced dinner, and other basic costs of this event
Support Farmers: $100-$1,000 You have heard it: this was the hardest year for many of the farms and ranches in our community. Folks are having a hard time out there, and it isn't getting easier. This affirms the importance of community building, advocacy, and direct-to-farmer support programs. Our vision is bold, but our capacity is limited. As a small organization, we do our best to expand our programming s to show up for our members in the ways they need it most, and that is only possible through the help of our community. While we view the HoeDown first and foremost as a place to celebrate, we hope this gathering also makes tangible the importance of showing up for one another. If you're in a position to do so, please consider helping us help our ag community.
What does this extra support look like? Below represents the typical expenses FFC shoulders to provide our programming. Whether you round up a little or a lot, we hope this makes transparent what it takes this small but mighty organization to show up in the ways that are needed most:
$29 - One 60 day serving of hydration mix for one farmer (we distributed this to 102 field workers this summer!)
$280 - One mobile shade structure for field workers
$560 - One month's worth of newsletter writing, event advertisement, membership engagement, and resource generation
$600 - One educational workshop (which pays a local farmer(s) for their expertise!)
$6,880 - One new-family microgrant through our Boulder Valley Farming Families program
Note: All tickets are "general admission" and access the same event. The difference in the price simply changes the amount that our organization receives as a result of your generosity!
About the Dinner:
More info coming soon! We will have gluten free and vegan options available.
